Beading Class Descriptions
This is a listing of our current beading class offerings. Please note that not all classes are offered all the time. Please check the Class/Event Schedule for the dates and times of the classes in which you are interested.
As a courtesy to your fellow students and instructors, many of whom are guest artists, we require preregistration for all classes. This may be done by calling 240-456-4568 or stopping by the store to register. Payment is due at time of registration. Credit cards and store gift certificates will be accepted over the phone; cash, check, credit or store gift certificate are accepted at the store.
Please arrive on time for your class. We often run two classes per day, so it's important for classes to begin and end on time. If you will be purchasing materials at the store prior to your class, please arrive early to do so. Thank you and we look forward to beading with you! Bead Soup

Bead Embroidery w/ Peyote Bezel Experience Level: Beginners and up
Instructor: Jo Ray
Cost of Instruction: $25, plus materials  Learn to use the most basic of all bezelling techniques, the peyote bezel to create a lovely, one in a million, pendant or pin!
Use your favorite cabochon or large flat stone, basic bead embroidery stitches and the peyote stitch to create your masterpiece. Then, use smaller beads to compliment the bezel and add to the design!

Beaded Needle Case Experience Level: Beginners and up

December 2011 introduces one of Jo's newest, sweetest designs! The traditional wooden needle case is covered with beads! Stitched in peyote using size 11/0 delicas, it's the perfect little gift for your favorite beader or seamstress!

Belour Cuff

Bi-Zu Lariat Experience Level: Beginners and up
Instructor: Kathy Fritz
Cost of Instruction: $25, plus materials  This gorgeous Japanese inspired lariat is a stunner! The brick stitch core is embellished up and down both sides ending in a splash of beaded beads, long fringe, and anything else your heart desires!
Haven't tried brick stitch yet? Then this project is for you! Great for the novice as well as the more advanced beader!

Boleyn Bracelet Experience Level: Beginners and up
Instructor: Mandy Duffy
Cost of Instruction: $25, plus materials  Reminiscent of days when jewels encrusted the diadems of royalty, this embellished right angle weave bracelet looks as lavish on the wrist as it would have gracing the crown of a princess!
Surprisingly easy to make, this stunner will definitely be an all time favorite!

Bubble Bracelet Experience Level: Beginners and up
Instructor: Jo Ray
Cost of Instruction: $25, plus materials  Learn to make this spectacular textured peyote stitch bracelet by combining size 8/0 beads and drop beads. The drop beads make the bracelet seem to effervesce with bubbles, like a flute of the finest champagne!
In this class you will learn how to do the basic even count peyote stitch with a decorative picot for the edges. Learning this basic stitch is a must for all new beaders.

Cellini Spiral
Experience Level: Call store for details Instructor: Kathy Fritz Cost of Instruction: $25, plus materials
 Create this one of a kind bangle bracelet that will dazzle everyone! The twists and turns of the cellini spiral stitch will make it look like you spent hours and hours at your beading table.
This stitch is a variation of tubular peyote stitch, but by using 9 different seed beads in several sizes, you create a spectacular dramatic effect! If you can peyote, then you can cellini!

 This adorable little beaded Christmas Tree is perfect for sitting on the corner of your desk or beading table. If you've never worked with wire and seed beads before this is a great project for you. It's a fabulous beading technique used to make the beaded flowers so popular in Russia.
Hum your favorite Christmas tune as you bead and twist your way into creating a holiday decoration that will be part of your Christmas tradition for years to come.

Crystal Flower Bracelet

Individual crystal flowers are woven by you out of your choice of 4mm beads and/or crystals and size 11/0 seed beads. The possibilities are endless as you choose your favorites from 4mm beads, crystals, bicones, fire-polished beads or pearls and pair them up with your color coordinated size 11/0 seed beads for a bracelet blooming with style and sparkle!

Crystal Flower Pendant

 This sparkly Japanese inspired crystal pendant looks like a wreath of flowers! In this class you will use 4mm crystals or pearls to create this lovely one of a kind pendant. Make all the flowers the same color or make a bouquet of mixed flowers! It's all up to you!

Crystal Snowflake
Experience Level: Beginner and up Instructor: Kathy Fritz Cost of Instruction: $25, plus cost of materials This lovely crystal snowflake is perfect for a Winter Wonderland! Imagine glittery, one of a kind snowflakes falling from the sky! Now you don't have to imagine, you can make one of your own!
Use crystals and coordinating, or contrasting if your prefer, size 11/0 seed beads to create you own unique snowflake. The snowflake makes a lovely pendant, ornament, or gift topper! Or get really creative and make a bunch, string them on thread or ribbon, and hang them from the top of your indoor window frame! Watch as the sun reflects of the snow outside and makes your inside snowflakes shimmer and sparkle! You could make several more and toss them on your winter holiday table to add a little bling to the festivities!

Double St. Petersburg Bracelet
Experience Level: Beginner and Up Instructor: Mandy Duffy Cost of Instruction: $25, plus cost of materials
 Having made it's way to the US from Russia in the early 1990's, the Double St. Petersburg Chain is a a beautiful lacy stitch just right for all occasions. Did you know in this class you will BOGO (Buy One, Get One)?!
You will first learn the popular St. Petersburg Chain and then the Double St. Petersburg Chain to complete the bracelet. What you end up with is a lovely showcase of seed beads on either side of your best crystals or pearls!
To complete this gorgeous bracelet you may add a pre-made clasp or toggle, or we'll show you how to make your very own crystal beaded bead closure.
