Join us as Michelle teaches one of our favorite classes.Fine Silver Metal Clay Technique Class - Hollow Forms!

Saturday November 19th 11am-2:00 p.m.

Reclaimed silver particles from old electronics suspended in an organic compound, which when fired in a kiln after molding, shaping or carving become a solid piece of fine silver.... sound magical? It is! And the magic is within your fingers!

For this lesson, we will be using Michelle's favorite mix of 2brands of fine silver, for its strength and durability in building (purchased in class). There are a couple different ways to achieve the hollow form bead, pendant, ring. We will work through a 2 part/ dry joining technique, that allows you to make a ring or pendant or lentil bead in class. (Consider ahead of time what you think you want to do and if you need to know your ring size!)

Many considerations will be covered in this class - the subject, texture, inclusions, decorating, as well as tips and tricks to achieving a seamless join.

Preparing a templateSettling a variety of shapesRolling silver clay and thickness considerations when using a texture plate.Drying silver clay with props.Joining clay, wet to dry, dry to dryAdding embellishmentsReinforcing tipsCreating a hollow form. Finishing and sanding prep for FiringDiscussion on Finishing and Firing (which will be done off site and returned to Bead Soup for pick up at a date to be set in class)

Included is a handout with photos and notes.

Please note: the handout is not a stand-alone instructional booklet.

A variety of textures and molds will be available for use during class.

* All Silver will be additionally purchased in class at current market prices *approx $70Cubic Zirconia stones, glass bits and more will be available for purchase.Michelle's Basket of Tools (templates, molds, stones, etc if desired) will be available to tempt you for purchase, to add to your tool box stash. ( we also have a limited supply of those infamous filled pink tool boxes, that when gone, they will be gone!)
